What a Netflix thriller reminded me about fathers, love and showing up when it matters most.

Recently, I watched the Netflix series I Will Find You, starring Sam Worthington. The series is filled with suspense and mystery but what stayed with me was not the plot twists.
It was the portrayal of a father.
Sam Worthington’s performance felt remarkably grounded. Beneath the calm exterior was a father carrying an immense amount of anxiety, fear and determination.
Most of the time, his character remains composed.. measured.. controlled.
Yet you can sense that every decision, every conversation and every setback is quietly weighing heavily on him.
His calmness is not the absence of fear.
It is the discipline of carrying fear without letting it take over.
Only when seriously provoked does that restraint crack.
One scene that stood out was his confrontation with a serial killer Ross Summer in prison. For a brief moment, the controlled father disappears and the raw desperation underneath surfaces. It was not simply anger. It felt like the reaction of a father who had been holding himself together for so long that the pressure finally found a way out.
I guess that is what made the character feel believable.
Most fathers are not naturally fearless.
They worry constantly.
About their children’s future.
About finances.
About whether they are making the right decisions.
About whether they are doing enough.
Yet most of that anxiety remains hidden beneath a calm face because things have to keep moving forward.
As children, we often see the calm surface.
As adults, we begin to recognize what lies underneath.
The late nights.
The silent worries.
The sacrifices that rarely become family stories.
Fatherhood is often portrayed as strength.
Perhaps.. its truest form is perseverance.
The willingness to continue despite uncertainty.
The determination to keep searching when others have stopped.
The quiet promise that says:
“I may not have all the answers. I may be afraid.. but I will not stop looking for a way forward.”
That is why the title I Will Find You resonates beyond the story itself.
At its heart, it reflects a promise many fathers make every day..
No matter how difficult the journey becomes, I will find a way.
Happy Father’s Day to all fathers who carry their worries silently, love deeply and continue showing up..
One day at a time.
